Who operates Screechee
Screechee is operated by SPRK Productions LLC in Phoenix, Arizona. SPRK Productions LLC is responsible for the Screechee service and the personal information described in this policy. Privacy and support requests can be sent to hello@sprkproductions.com.
What we collect
When you create an account, we receive basic identity information from Clerk and the sign-in method you choose, such as your verified email address, display name, profile image, and provider identifier. We store the profile information you add, including your handle, bio, music preferences, privacy settings, and avatar.
We store the music activity you deliberately create: ratings, written reviews, reactions, Listenlist saves, Diary entries, Crates, profile pins, Tasteprint and Passport evidence, Crate Score events, game activity, follows, likes, replies, reports, and notification state. If you authorize an optional music-service connection, we process only the information needed for the connection and features you authorize. Spotify is currently disabled.
We also collect limited operational data such as page or feature use, search and preview outcomes, error categories, session identifiers, timestamps, and basic request information used for security, abuse prevention, reliability, and product improvement.
Guest mode
Guest ratings, reviews, reactions, Crates, and reward evidence are stored on the device. An anonymous cookie helps prevent repeated Discover cards. If you later sign in, Screechee submits the guest record through an idempotent claim process. The device copy remains until that claim succeeds.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, synchronization, public profiles, discovery, previews, reviews, social features, Crates, and games.
- Personalize Discover from your explicit preferences and meaningful music activity while preserving an exploration floor.
- Protect accounts, enforce community rules, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
- Measure activation and retention in aggregate and improve Screechee.
Screechee does not sell personal information. Screechee does not use sensitive account or music-service data for third-party targeted advertising.
Public and private information
Your verified account email and private Crates are not public. If your listening profile is public, other listeners may see your display name, handle, avatar, bio, selected preferences, public reviews and ratings, public Crates, social counts, and the Crate Score badges you choose to showcase. You control profile visibility and Crate visibility.
Service providers and music sources
Screechee relies on service providers that process data for hosting, storage, identity, catalog information, previews, and optional music-service connections. These currently include Clerk, Cloudflare, Apple Music, MusicBrainz/MetaBrainz, the Cover Art Archive/Internet Archive, ListenBrainz, and source publications linked from the Newsroom. Each provider may process information under its own terms and privacy policy.
Retention, deletion, and your choices
Account information is retained while your account is active and as needed to operate, secure, and document the service. Operational records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for reliability, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations.
You can edit profile information, disconnect optional music services, change profile visibility, remove content, and permanently delete your account from Profile → Account & Connections. Account deletion removes your Clerk identity and Screechee user data unless a limited record must be retained by law. You may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability where applicable by emailing hello@sprkproductions.com. We may need to verify identity before completing a request.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, short-lived authentication tokens, secure transport, bounded inputs, and operational monitoring. If token-based music connections are enabled in the future, their stored refresh credentials will be encrypted. No system is perfectly secure. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
Children
Screechee is not directed to children under 13, and people under 13 may not create an account. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should email hello@sprkproductions.com.
Changes
Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. When appropriate, signed-in listeners will receive additional notice in the product.
