HOW IT WORKS

A SONG A DAY,
hidden in a puzzle.

Screechee is a music discovery site from Really Bad Studio. Every day we hide one song in Mystery Groove, our daily music guessing game. You guess, the board tells you how close you are, clues open as you go, and once you find it you can go hear the whole thing on Apple Music.

01 HOW A ROUND GOES

  1. 01GUESS

    Search for a song.

Type a song title or an artist and pick a match. Every guess is a real song from the music catalog.

  2. 02READ THE BOARD

    Green, yellow, red.

Each guess is checked against the hidden song on seven things: release year, genre, artist, album, language, vocal format and sound profile. Green is exact, yellow is close, red is a miss. The year tells you whether the answer is earlier or later.

  3. 03OPEN CLUES

    Every two guesses, a clue.

Clues open after 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 guesses: a one-second needle drop, a liner note, a three-second needle drop, the album name, then a hint about the artist’s name and one about the title. Next Clue opens the next one early if you want it.

  4. 04FIND IT

    Then go hear it.

There’s no guess limit. After 12 guesses you can reveal the answer if you’re stuck. Either way you get the song, a short note on why we picked it, and a link to listen on Apple Music.

02 WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE

The Mystery Groove board after three guesses, each one colored green, yellow or red for release year, genre, artist, album, language, vocal format and sound profile. On larger screens the search box and six clue cards show above it.

04 MORE TO DO

05 QUESTIONS

What is Mystery Groove?

Mystery Groove is Screechee’s daily music guessing game, also called the Dailee Screech. There’s one hidden song each day. You guess songs, the board shows how close each one is, and clues open as you go until you find it.

When does a new puzzle come out?

A new song is hidden every day, based on the date where you are. Future puzzles stay locked until their day.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play in your browser without signing in, and your progress stays on that device. If you sign in, your daily results line up with your account history.

How does scoring work?

Solving scores more than revealing. Fewer guesses and fewer opened clues mean a higher score, solving without the sound clues adds a bonus, and streak milestones add a little more.

Can I play past puzzles?

Yes. The archive has every past puzzle on the same board. Archive games never change your daily streak.

Will sharing spoil it for my friends?

No. The share card and copied result show your colored grid, never the answer. A friend who opens your link sees your grid next to their own board.
